I know this video is a little bit old, but I have to show some love for Geek House Bikes. I especially think the frame with the curved seat tube is beautiful. Lines on a frame don't get much better than that. Keep up the good work!

New Bling

I finally received my Velocity B43s in the mail on Friday. It seems that the Wheel Gods brought everything into perfect alignment for me. All of the parts to build the wheels came in during the same week AND I found the correct length spokes in our shop (no cutting spokes to length). The details are as follows: Velocity B43 rims, All-City high flange track hubs, DT Swiss Revolution Spokes (Butted 2.0-1.5), Vittoria Randonneurs (700x28), all-american muscle.

I was at work today when the Bern helmets rep came in. All I have to say is that this guy was awesome. We talked about his helmets for a few minutes and I must say that I really dig the product line. The most important part about these helmets is that you won't end up dead or in the hospital when you kiss the asphalt. Anyway, definitely check out Bern's website for their full product line. Big ups!

All-City Complete Update

It looks like the boys over at All-City read my blog and decided to update the status on the complete bike that they have had in the works for some time now. They have done some testing and a pretty legit review. Check out the details at All-City's Blog.

The guys over at All-City seem to have done a pretty proper job at making a nice frame and fork set. It looks like the frame set up could be used equally well for commuting and doing tricks.

Keeping It Clean

All-City has finally come out with their white crank set (at an affordable price I'm sure). The best part about white is that you can keep your whip hella clean. The worst part? If you ride like you are supposed to, the white cranks will be dirt-bag filthy in less than a couple of weeks.

Super Smooth

Clean Lines

If you are into clean lines, you should definitely check out Tonic Fab. Based in Oregon (not too far from California), they make some of the most beautiful track frames that I have seen. According to Tonic Fab's website:
"You won’t find our chainstays, seat stays, dropouts or headtubes on any other bike. The Supernaut makes other track frames look positively spindly, but it isn’t heavy. A 57 weighs just under 4.5lbs.

With a 1.5" Down tube and 7/8" stays, the Supernaut is probably the stiffest steel frame you can buy. It’s survived for years under Alfred Bobe, and that’s what we call Animal Testing....

We machine the headtube after welding, submerge the frame in a rust resistant finish before paint, and bond in an aluminum seat tube insert to protect your really nice seat post. All surfaces are machined. With a machine. The Supernaut is dialed."

Definitely dialed...

One other thing. The headtube on this monster works with an integrated headset which has been getting me thinking. It seems like more and more, track frame manufacturers are trying to make thier parts stronger (for the hip trickster crowd, I'm guessing). Because of this, it seems like more and more the parts on newer track frames are drawing heavily from the BMX world. I say, if it is strong and looks good, why not.

All-City Complete

Awhile back, All-City Cycles said that they would be putting into production a line of complete track bikes. I'm wondering, when are they going to come out? All-City is definitely one of the newer up-and-coming companies on the fixed gear scene and from what I've seen so far, they make some pretty nice stuff (at a pretty good price). I know that I trust them enough to lace my new B43s to a set of their track hubs.

I guess I will just have to keep checking their website.

White Industries Pedals

Having worked in a bike shop for a couple of years now, I have discovered several smaller companies that create some awesome parts. White Industries is no exception. Mostly dedicated to hubs, White Industries creates high-end parts that are beautiful to hipsters or bicycle enthusiasts alike.

Recently, White Industries came out with their new Urban Platform Pedal. While this pedal looks crazy nice (and wide for your fancy shoes) the price seems a little steep at $235. Personally, I still prefer clipless, but these new pedals are a close second on my list if I were to use clips and straps.

Also, while you're over at White Industries website, check out their Track Hubs. Can you say bling?

Rumble in the Jungle

From the videos posted all over online, it looks like the Rumble in the Jungle was a pretty good success.

But, I do feel like the video may not have captured all the great action. There was a photo on one of the big guy's blogs (Prolly, I think) that had an epic threesome of trick action. There was some guy hitting the huge transition while two other guys were coming out of the quarter pipes fakie. Either way, the video is entertaining and def. represents some of gnar cal's finest.

Velocity B43s

I don't know why more people haven't jumped all over the new rim that is coming out from Velocity. According to Velocity's website:

"The B43 AKA the Brisbane43, at 43mm deep, triple walled, and in drillings up to a 48h the B43 is the ultimate rim for tricking, and bike polo. If you're looking for stiffness, rigidness, pure strength, and the bling that goes with it, roll these on your whip."

These rims should be pretty awesome for mobbing around town and all you hip tricksters out there, even if they are a little bit heavy. The bottom line, these rims are beautiful and strong. I already have mine on order and I will post pictures as soon as I build them up.
